Shah Rukh Khan as Raj in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge - playful, spontaneous, and mischievous

Shah Rukh Khan turns 60 this year. Fitter and sharper than ever, ageing like fine wine. Six decades on, the man who taught an entire generation the language of love continues to reinvent himself. In a society that often glorifies men as dominant, loud, and invincible, he proved that vulnerability, emotional intelligence, and the courage to express emotions without hesitation don't make men less masculine.

Through his portrayals, he treated women with an idea of men who uplift rather than overpower, who listen, respect, and love without ego, redefining strength through compassion.

Charm with a Conscience

Since his very first appearance on Doordarshan’s Fauji, where he played the lively Abhimanyu Rai, Shah Rukh Khan’s mischievous charm, innocent smile, and expressive body language instantly made viewers fall in love with him.

From Raj of DDLJ to Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan has evolved with the times, yet his dimpled smile, open arms, and effortless humility remain unchanged.

The stories that brand “SRK” stands for always place the woman in his life at the centre, keeping her loved, respected, and held in the highest regard.

In Paheli, he showed that women seek more than a provider. They long for someone who understands their emotions and desires. Similarly, in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, where a man plays two roles just to make his wife smile, SRK reminded men that being aware of women's emotional needs, the efforts to fulfil them and unwavering love make a man truly desirable.

Chivalry, Not Chauvinism

Before the term “green flag” entered dating vocabulary, Shah Rukh Khan was already living it. He always conducts himself in the most dignified way, especially around women. Overpowering women can never be a gentleman’s trait, and he made chivalry an essential quality in men.

From opening doors and pulling out chairs to his gentle affection with which he treats his female co-stars, he’s made women feel safe, seen, and comfortable around him, both on and off screen.

Razor-Sharp Wit and Intelligence

SRK’s quicksilver wit is the stuff of legend. Whether he’s addressing a global stage or roasting himself in interviews, his humour is sharp yet sensitive. His jokes are never clichéd or sexist; they’re clever, charming, making women laugh, smile, and blush, without ever crossing the line. His one-liners during the AMA sessions and his public appearances are proof that nobody can match his style of humour.

His intelligence shines through every conversation. The depth of knowledge he displays on almost any topic comes from his lifelong love for reading. It’s this rare mix of intellect and charm that makes him adored not just by the masses, but equally admired by the classes.

The Fine Art of Flirting—Minus the Cringe

There’s a reason SRK’s flirtation has always felt safe, and never creepy. His gaze never objectifies; it reflects admiration and respect. He can make women blush without embarrassing them, because he knows the difference between attention and intrusion. That's why women do not mind the flirt that's playful and respectful, not predatory.

Whether it’s Raj charming his Tani partner, the playful Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Aman teasing his doctor in Kal Ho Naa Ho, or the student Ram blushing over his stunning professor Sushmita in Main Hoon Na, they all made flirting look endearing, never offensive.

A Gentleman Empowered by Women

From his on-screen heroines to his real-life peers, SRK has always treated women as collaborators, not sidekicks. His leading ladies, Kajol, Juhi, Deepika, or the latest women’s squad in the movie Jawaan, were never ornamental. They had opinions, authority, and emotional depth that matched his own presence on screen.

Off-screen, too, he has consistently credited the women in his life, his wife Gauri, daughter Suhana, his co-stars, female directors, and even the women on his staff for shaping his journey and success. As he once said, “Whatever good there is in me is because of the women in my life.”

His philanthropy reflects that same belief. Through the Meer Foundation, he supports acid attack survivor women reclaiming their strength and dignity. Though he lost his mother at a young age, he often says the values and compassion he carries today are the gifts she left behind.

Emotional Intelligence as Masculinity

SRK’s greatest contribution to modern manhood might be that he made emotional intelligence aspirational. He normalised tears, apologies, and vulnerability. His characters could break down, express affection, or admit fear while remaining deeply masculine.

In Kal Ho Naa Ho, Aman hides his pain behind a smile, teaching everyone that love sometimes means letting go. In Veer-Zaara, Veer’s quiet patience and unwavering respect for Zaara speak louder than any grand gesture. Swades gave us Mohan, a man who returns to his roots to care for his childhood caretaker, Kaveri Amma, and falls for a village girl with a strong mind and an independent voice. Dr Jehangir Khan, from Dear Zindagi, listens more than he speaks, guiding Kiara to heal herself, showing that sensitivity is a superpower, not a flaw.

Through these roles, SRK showed that real men lead with empathy and purpose, driven not by ego or validation, and that women are not possessions to be won, but individuals to be understood and respected.

The Legacy of a Man Who Rules the Hearts

At 60, SRK’s legacy is not just about the films he’s made, but also about the cultural shift he inspired. He taught men that strength can be gentle and women that they deserve nothing less.

Shah Rukh Khan received the national award only this year, a recognition long overdue, but he accepted it with utmost grace and childlike excitement, proving once again that ego is way smaller than his zest for life.

At events featuring his wife Gauri, he quietly steps aside, letting her brilliance shine, celebrating her achievements as an interior designer with the pride of a true partner.

People from all walks of life praise his humility, warmth, generosity, and the genuine effort he makes to make everyone around him feel special.

Wishing Shah Rukh Khan—the eternal King of Hearts—a very happy 60th birthday. He will continue to inspire men to walk the path of love, respect, and empathy, and give women every reason to believe in men who understand, cherish, and treat them like true queens.
